Policy Positions.

  • Minnesota must stand up to cruelty and federal abuses of power.

  • The costs of food, housing, healthcare and childcare must be properly balanced with wages and economic fairness. This is a complex situation which must be addressed from all angles.

  • We only have one habitable planet. We will not get another. Climate action is of paramount importance, and it must also be about job creation.

  • Democracy only works when everyone can participate.

  • The foundation of a successful state is an educated citizenry and work force.

Public Safety

Minnesota must stand up to cruelty and federal abuses of power.

To protect Minnesotans, Travis will introduce legislation to:

  • Prohibit state and local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE without a judicial warrant.

  • Ban federal immigration enforcement from operating in Minnesota using unmarked vehicles, masks, or misidentifying themselves as police.

  • Establish a “Minnesota Department of Federal Oversight” to document and coordinate all evidence of federal abuses that have deprived Minnesotans of their civil rights so that offenders from agencies like ICE will one day be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Affordability

For Healthcare

As healthcare is a human right for all, not a privilege for the few, Travis supports:

  • Expanding the public healthcare option and strengthening MinnesotaCare until replaced by a single-payer system.

  • State negotiation of prescription drug prices, including caps on insulin and other essential medications and faster approval and availability of generic drugs.

  • Proposing a state constitutional amendment to solidify reproductive freedom.

For Children

Families and educators deserve investments in children at every stage of life.

  • Universal daycare for all children in Minnesota.

  • Fully fund nutrition for all licensed day care providers in Minnesota, reducing operational costs and saving working families money.

  • Empower local school districts to provide supplemental pre-K childcare services.

Housing

All Minnesotans deserve stable, affordable housing. We must meet this moment by building more housing for working class and middle‑income Minnesotans. Travis will fight for:

  • Major investments to increase mixed-use and multi-family housing.

  • Distributed state aid to cities to reduce pressure on local property taxes.

  • Taxation policy the secures seniors and long‑time residents remain in their homes to age in place with dignity.

Living Wages and Economic Fairness

Minnesota’s sense of community togetherness coupled with our work ethic and labor movement built the state. Today, Minnesotans feel increasingly priced out of our quality of life. Travis will fight for:

  • Prevailing wage for all hourly wage workers, and stronger penalties for wage theft and employer retaliation.

  • A ban on captive‑audience anti‑union meetings and so‑called “Right to Work” laws.

  • Expanded collective bargaining rights for public‑sector workers.

Climate, Energy, & Jobs

We only have one habitable planet. We will not get another. Climate action is of paramount importance, and it must also be about job creation. Travis supports:

  • Intense focus on solar, wind, geothermal, and nuclear energy to assure energy independence for Minnesota.

  • Converting existing coal plants with attached transmission structure into long duration energy storage.

  • Expand protections for Minnesota’s natural resources

Democracy &
Government Reform

Democracy only works when everyone can participate. Travis supports:

  • Ranked choice voting for all elections in Minnesota.

  • Prohibit the release of sensitive voter data to the Trump administration.

  • Full-day holidays for all caucuses, primary elections, and general elections. Employees and parents will no longer choose between a ballot box or food on the table.

Education

The foundation of a successful state is an educated citizenry and work force. Travis will fight for:

  • Full health care and bargaining rights for educators and classroom paraprofessionals.

  • Expand Board Certified Behavior Analyst (“BCBA”) licensure and special education services.

  • Scholarship incentives and loan forgiveness for public university teaching graduates.
